Baptisms
Baptism (often called christening) marks the beginning of a life-long journey with God. It’s a visible sign of God’s love for us revealed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism sacramentally washes away our sins and grants us a life that transcends death itself.
At St Mary’s, baptisms are usually conducted during the 9.30am service on Sundays in the midst our worshipping family. This is to emphasize that baptism marks a Christian’s entry into Christ’s church: an actual family spread all over the globe, encompassing angels and archangels and all the company of heaven, and us too.

Weddings
We are delighted that you are thinking about holding your wedding ceremony at St Mary’s. Marriage is one of life’s most significant mile-stones when two people commit themselves to faithful mutual love. We can mark the occasion with peals of bells from the highest tower in Powys.
We will guide you through the process to your wedding ceremony with care provided by our vicar. He’ll take time to get to know you both, explain the Christian meaning of marriage, and help with any questions you may have about the ceremony.
An early enquiry about a wedding enables us to sort out the legal requirements. Generally speaking, you will need to live within the parish of St Mary’s, demonstrate that you have lived here, or have a similar connection through your parents. But there are other ways of possibly being connected. Our Vicar will be more than happy to talk you through them.

Funerals
Our Christian faith tells us that ‘nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Rom. 8.39) . Amid our amid sadness and sorrow, we hold onto this as we stand with you as we shape the service together.
Arranging a funeral or memorial service can be overwhelming . Our experience means that we are able to walk alongside you sensitively and patiently as you work with your funeral director.
Because of the Tower Café, there are limited hours in which a funeral can take place at St Mary’s. But it is always possible to conduct it in one of the other churches in our Ministry Area or even at the Cathedral. Our Vicar will walk through the different possibilities.
