Fr Mark Clavier

Priest in charge

Fr Mark has served in parishes in America, England, and Wales, and for five years as a lecturer in theology at Cardiff and Oxford. He is also the author of a number of books, including his most recent book, A Pilgrimage of Paradoxes: an award-winning theological reflection on place and belonging based on an overnight walk on Cadair Idris. Besides serving as St Mary’s vicar, Fr Mark is also Canon Theologian for the Diocese, which involves (among other things) his encouraging study and reflection throughout the Diocese. He is also Chair of the Standing Doctrinal Commission for the Church in Wales.

He is an avid walker and mountain backpacker, especially when joined by his wife Sarah and their three Spaniels, Cuthbert, Humphrey, and Dexter. He has one son, Paul, who lives and works in Edinburgh.

  • Revd Gill Todd

    MINISTRY AREA LEADER

    Gill Todd is the Brecon Ministry Area Leader and is based at St David’s Llanddew.

    Educated in South Wales, graduated in medicine from the Welsh National School of Medicine. She became a Member of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine in 1979 and a Fellow 1987.

    In 1979 she was appointed as a Consultant in Public Health Medicine, to the Trent Regional Health Authority and in 1984 as District General Manager, Central Nottinghamshire Health Authority. In 1991 she became Chief Executive South Birmingham Acute Unit prior to returning to Wales in 1994 as Chief Executive of South Glamorgan Health Authority then Bro Taf Health Authority and in 1999 was made Director of the Specialised Health Service Commission for Wales. She completed her career as Medical Director of Powys Local Health Board.

    Gill trained as a reader, was licenced in 2008 and obtained a Certificate of Theology. She was ordained in 2019 and priested in 2020.

    She was the Chair of the Representation of Women’s group for the province and is the chair of both the Audit Committee and the Safeguarding Board for the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon.

    Liz Bramley is a non-stipendiary vicar serving in the churches to the east of Brecon in the Usk Valley.
